"Knowing God"

Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, said in John 10… I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep KNOW me. (NIV)
Do you know God? Do you REALLY KNOW God?
These questions presuppose that it is possible for us to know God. But even more than that, they presuppose that there IS a God to know.
Do you know God?
Now here’s the bottom line…there either is a God to KNOW or there is NO God. There are no other options, there is no middle ground, and to ignore the two options is unwise,… both options have significant implications for our lives. If the latter option be true “there is no God” then I should stop now, we should leave now and not return to this place. But if there is a God to KNOW, then the universe is His to command and,…. if He chooses to come to this place He has made tabernacled in human flesh, He CAN…..He DID!
Do you know God?
You CAN know Him….but you can ONLY know Him because HE has graciously chosen to reveal Himself to you. ALL creation shouts of His existence, His glory……
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”
The creation shouts of Him, and the perfection of His Word proclaims His sovereign authority over all things.
“The law of the LORD is perfect, … the testimony of the LORD is sure…More to be desired are they than gold,… To know God through His Word is a far greater treasure than all the treasures of this world, …and more satisfying than the choicest of delicacies.
Both in His Works and more importantly in His Word He HAS revealed Himself to YOU…. YOU CAN KNOW GOD!!!
So I ask you this morning,… Do you know God?
He knows YOU, He knows EVERYTHING about you. You have no secrets hidden from His view….your thoughts are files which cannot be deleted…. David said “O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me…… there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether…” He knows YOU, He knows all about you….the only thing that He does not know is that which He has chosen to cast into the “Sea of His Forgetfulness”,… your sin washed away in the Sacrifice of Jesus.
He KNOWS all about you… and He LOVES you!
Do you KNOW God?
I am not asking if you know there “IS” a God, but do YOU KNOW GOD who IS?
If you DO know Him, He is your Good Shepherd, and you CAN and SHOULD know more….If you really KNOW God, then you cannot know enough of Him. If you really KNOW God, nothing, absolutely nothing, should stand in the way of your passion to know Him more…that I might know Him, Paul said of Jesus Christ, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings. Do you hunger and thirst to know Him more?…the more you do….the more you will be like Him, …suffer like Him, …and do so with joy in your heart, and God wrought victory in your life.
Do YOU know God?
OH,.. you MUST my friend…. Everyone “WILL” know Him some day…He exists,… HE calls all the shots….He’s God….you may avoid and ignore Him now…but someday you WILL not… for… at the name of Jesus every knee (shall) bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
So,… it’s inevitable….KNOW Him NOW as the Good Shepherd, and know His grace, His salvation, His blessing. KNOW Him LATTER and you will know the judgment of a righteous Judge.
So …what’s keeping you from truly knowing God today? …or what’s keeping you from knowing Him MORE? Cast it off, dear friend. Come to Jesus…. Brother, Sister, lay it aside, every weight, and every sin….
Do you know God? Do you REALLY KNOW God. You CAN….You can know MORE…..You SHOULD…..You MUST…..You WILL!
